Picking the "best" AI interview assistant depends on how you interview — the language you'll use, whether you want to pay once or subscribe, and how much you care about where your audio goes. This is a research-based comparison, not a hands-on test of every product: every price and policy below was checked against each vendor's own site inJuly–August 2026, and a couple of figures are flagged as unverifiable where a vendor renders pricing dynamically. Cluely

Cluely is a managed, cloud-based assistant — there's no bring-your-own-key option. Pricing: Free, $19.99/mo, and a $149.99/mo top tier; the option to keep the assistant window out of a screen-capture stream is only available on that top tier. A separate mobile app is billed at $8/week.

Cluely is one of the few tools here with a real mobile app (most, InterviewBeacon included, are desktop-only) and it keeps a cloud dashboard with session history across devices. Platforms: macOS, Windows, mobile.

Two things to weigh: the refund window is 24 hours and requires video proof of a software defect, and there's a documented Trustpilot complaint describing a roughly $500 annual renewal charge that went through without a confirmation screen.

Final Round AI bundles a mock-interview practice mode and resume review — a prep layer InterviewBeacon doesn't offer. The refund window is 72 hours and is voided by "substantial use" (2+ sessions of 30+ minutes); multiple Trustpilot reviews report friction cancelling the subscription. Platforms: macOS, Windows.

Best for: candidates who want interview practice and resume tools alongside live help.

LockedIn AI

Managed, cloud-based, no BYOK. Pricing (checked twice, 2026-07-29 and 2026-08-17, same promo both times): $54.99/mo month-to-month or $39.99/moon a 3-month plan — promotional rates against a $109.98/mo list price.

This is the most feature-dense option here: 42 languages with accent/dialect handling, a built-in mock-interview trainer, adjustable overlay opacity, and "LockedIn Duo," which can bring a live human helper into your session.

Two caveats: LockedIn AI markets its overlay heavily around concealment and avoiding detection — that's a fact about their positioning, and there are documented Trustpilot/ Reddit complaints that it doesn't reliably hold up in practice. Refunds are also tight: monthly/quarterly plans are non-refundable once started, and annual plans get a partial refund only within the first 7 days. Platforms: macOS, Windows.

OphyAI

The only browser-based tool here — no install required. Managed and credit-based, no BYOK: Free (5 one-time credits), Pro $29/mo (300 credits), Premium $59/mo (500 credits).

Its standout is language coverage: 35 languages and 17 accent variants, noticeably broader than InterviewBeacon's English-first approach.

Best for: multilingual interviews without installing a desktop app.

Hedy

Worth including with a clear caveat: Hedy isn't an interview specialist. It's a general meeting assistant covering 11 session types, of which interviews are just one. Pricing: Free (5 hrs/month), Pro $99.99/year (~$8.33/mo effective), and a $299 one-time Lifetime plan.

Its advantage is breadth — the widest platform coverage here (iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, web, Apple Watch) plus 30+ languages. The trade-off is focus: it isn't tuned to generate a strong interview answer in the moment the way a dedicated tool is.

Best for: one assistant across all your meetings, not just interviews.

Interview Coder (coding interviews only)

One note for completeness: Interview Coder is built narrowly for live coding interviews, so it isn't a fit for the general, any-profession audience of this page. It's a one-time purchase rather than a subscription — Free (no AI features), Monthly Pro $299/mo, and Lifetime Pro $799 one-time — and it markets itself around concealment features. InterviewBeacon

Which one should you choose?

There isn't a single winner — there's a best fit for what you actually need.

You want to pay once, not subscribe. InterviewBeacon ($79, 6-month license) is the cleanest fit for a general-profession interviewer. Hedy's $299 lifetime plan is an option if you want a broad meeting tool rather than an interview specialist. (Interview Coder is also one-time, but coding-only.)

You'll interview in a language other than English. LockedIn AI (42 languages) leads, with OphyAI (35 languages, 17 accents) and Hedy (30+) close behind — this is InterviewBeacon's clearest gap.

You want to rehearse before the real thing. Final Round AI and LockedIn AI include mock-interview practice; most others, including InterviewBeacon, don't.
